As I said in last night's post, I went to see New Moon last night, and I have to say, it has lived up to all my expectations, and in fact surpassed them. I have been a Twilight fan since the beginning, and I mean literally since the day the first book came out. Although the character development of both Bella and Edward within the books, the fact that Stephanie Meyer basically obliterated what a vampire truly is by making them *twitch* sparkle, striping them of the traditions and causing certain ones *cough*Edward*cough* to become pansy Gary Stews, along with the fact that the books were written in a diary format, which I hate reading, I do have to say that I did very much enjoy the books. The new take on vampires, horrid though it may seem to this Anne Rice fanatic, is something that I have to applaud Ms Meyer for. She applied new ideals to the vampire legend, and made a legendary being already in existence, something totally her own. I may not exactly approve of her style of vampire, but it doesn't mean I don't give her credit for her accomplishments.

Now, although I did enjoy the books, I was very skeptical about them being turned into films. However, with the premiere of Twilight last year, all my fears were laid to rest. It was brilliantly cast, and all around phenomenally presented. Being able to see the books come to life in this way, and seeing that Bella and Edward weren't quite SO Mary Sue in the film, gave me much hope. But a few things made me even more of a fan than I thought I could have become.

The first of these things, is Charlie Swan, Bella's father. I must say, Charlie is one of my favorite characters in the entire series, and his character development in the films versus the books, is amazing. Charlie reminds me strongly of my own father, thus my attachment to the character. Then there's Jacob Black, the young man who follows after Bella like a lost puppy(excuse the bad pun ^.^;; ). Even while reading the books, I instantly fell in love with Jacob, for once, and the ONLY time, choosing a wolf over a vampire. Jacob is real, raw and has character development far superior to Edward Cullen's. I understood Jacob, related to him and even felt a kinship, as he and I are of the same tribe. Though I am not a pure blooded Quileute, as he is, it is a very strong part of my heritage that I am very proud of. When reading New Moon, my infatuation with Jacob hit an all time high, and I was very excited to see how it would affect me in the films, seeing as the films, in my opinion, seemed to surpass the books.

Everything I expected this film to me, the expectations I built up for how amazing it would be, were all completely shattered. This is without a doubt, the best film I have seen this year(Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince right at it's heals of course XD). They translated book to film in a way I didn't believe could be done, and although there were a couple moments that irked me, all of them concerning the sparkling vampires of doom, it's strong points completely over came it's weak ones.

As many fans know, after giving an excellent portrayal of Jacob Black in the first film installment, the young actor Taylor Lautner, was nearly cast off as Jacob for New Moon. However, thanks to his extreme determination, and the out cry from many dedicated fans, myself included, he kept a firm hold on the role. Taylor worked for months to build up the physical demands to play Jacob for this film, and his belief in his character could not have been more evident in this film. Taylor shines above any of the other actors, and shows not only why he secured his role, but why he is worthy of his fast growing acting reputation. He fell into his role of Jacob flawlessly and I promise you, no one could ever play Jacob other than Taylor.

The introduction the rest of the Wolf Pack, and the Volturi, went off without a hitch. There were some actors I was concerned about, but they delivered beyond my worries. Dakota Fanning was perfect as Jane, despite the limited screen time the character had. Every actor in the film delivered flawless performances, despite the fact that I still wish Robert Pattinson would be introduced to a comb, as well as a full body wax...I couldn't help it, every time he was shown without any or much to cover his upper body, I gagged, though not as much as Katie haha. But that was alright, thanks to the shirtless Jacob and rest of the Wolf Pack, for their smexiness made up for Edward's...well...not smexiness ^.^;;;

This film is superior to it's first installment, and I now look forward more than ever to Eclipse, as it was my favorite of the books.

Now, I have a far more personal note to add to this review, and it contains spoilers. So if you haven't read the books nor seen the film yet, BEWARE AND TURN BACK NOW!!

As I said before, I have always been in love with Jacob, ever since I first read Twilight. Now although I will admit that Edward has a few redeeming qualities, Bella, WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!! I honestly had a desperate desire to punch that stupid girl at the end of the film, which yes I had at the end of reading New Moon as well. When she told Jacob that she loved him also, yet would always choose Edward, I was fuming. I also cried, which I didn't think I would, but because of Taylor's facial expression(THIS BOY IS A BRILLIANT ACTOR!!), it couldn't be helped. I personally have always chosen Jacob and would always do so without a second thought. Why would anyone choose that Mary Sue pansy ass sparkle boy, over JACOB??? I dunno, maybe it's just me...

Ok, sorry, needed a bit of a rant haha. Anyway, whether you're a fan or not, even if you're a hater, go see this film. It surpasses the books and is a brilliant film, and one which I will be seeing several times before it leaves theaters
